Cholesterol and Diet

Although cholesterol is primarily affected by factors such as heredity, ones control of his weight, smoking, drinking and lack of exercise; and food does not affect it directly, still, cholesterol and diet plays an important role together.

To handle cholesterol limit one must know what foods to limit eating and what food should be eaten more often.

First on the list is less intake of fat. A double benefit can be achieved by cutting back on fried food, biscuits, pies, puddings, crisps and chips which is lower cholesterol level as well as lower body weight.
Some dairy products like sour cream, butter and cheese are high in cholesterol and one should watch out their intake of these kinds of foods.

Trans fatty acids which are mostly found in foods that contain hydrogenated oils should also be limited. These are usually found on commercially baked goods such as biscuits, tarts, pudding and other snack. Watch out for the word hydrogenated on the label of the food products that you buy and try to go without those products.

Though cutting off in meat in your diet is not necessary, having an extra potion of meat in your diet though can give you an over the top share of calories, cholesterol and fat.

Reduced fat products such as low fat cream cheese and soured cream, fat free skimmed milk and yoghurt are healthy choices for your diet. Also, a serving of three ounces or abut the size of a palm is enough a portion of meat in your diet to provide you with protein and yet less fat, calories and cholesterol.
